Tasting Notes

A really interesting grape varietal, that for the most part is only grown in Puglia and from what I can gather, pretty much no where else. I am a fan of Negroamaro, it's such a reasonably priced, every day drinking wine, that has great dark fruit and an obvious herbal character.

This particular Negroamaro has the dark fruit characters on the nose, with a slightly spicy and herbal note as well. The palate is very fruit driven and spicy, has great length and is also full and rich palate.

Enjoy Me With

A great example of an every day drinking wine, delicious by itself and pairs extremely well with a range of food. Cheeses and cured meats are an obvious choice for the Kala Negroamaro, as are grilled meats, ragu and rich hearty winter stews.

Vineyard in Focus

Cosimo Palama is located in Salento, Puglia, in the far south of Italy, or in what is commonly known as the heel of the boot. This winery produces wines with grape varietals common to the Pugliese region, including Negroamaro and Primitivo. All components of the growing and wine making processes are completed by the family.
