I really like Primitivo as a grape varietal, it's bright, fruit driven, slightly spicy and chocolatey. Beautiful ripe red fruits and black pepper on the nose, translating well onto the palate where I find black fruits including plums, raspberry and blackberry; black pepper and spices; finishing on chocolate. There is a bright acidity, fruit spice and an element of savoury.

The Italians look at this wine as their go to match with Pizza, and let's not be fussy here, as long as you have a good base any pizza will do.
The Kala Primitivo does also work well with grilled meats and very interestingly as a red wine, tends to work well with spicy food, including curries of all descriptions. I suggest a beef or lamb curry.

This winery produces wines with grape varietals common to the Pugliese region, including Negroamaro and Primitivo. All components of the growing and wine making processes are completed by the family.
