An interesting red blend from the Montefalco region, combining local Italian varietals with traditional Bordeaux varietals - these being predominantly Sangiovese, with Sagrantino, Barbera, Merlot and Cabernet.
Bright fruits are present on the nose, but the palate is where the magic really happens. Due to the grape varietals used there is a broad spectrum of fruits, from cherry to plum, to currants and blackberry. The 12 months in oak barrels gives this wine an incredible texture and complexity.
Enjoy Me With
This wine works incredibly well with hard cheeses and savoury meat dishes. What I really enjoy pairing this red with is a slow cooked brisket, which is shredded and served with a home made rich tomato sauce on pappardelle pasta. Add lots of cracked pepper and you can't forget the pecorino cheese.

Vineyard in Focus
The Adanti winery is located in the Montefalco Sagrantino Secco DOCG appellation, in the region of Umbria, Central Italy. Their main wine is made from 100% Sagrantino grapes and has a unique regulation of aging, which stipulates that the Sagrantino must age for a minimum of 37 months, of which at least 12 months must be in oak barrels. The Sagrantino has extremely thick skins and being combined with a long ageing process creates a big dense bold wine. The vineyard also grows Grechetto, Trebbiano, Barbera, Cabernet, Chardonnay, Merlot and a few others too. Adanti is seen as being advanced for the region, ensuring the winery is equipped with the latest technology and using modern wine making techniques.
