When many think of rosé they think Summer, easy drinking and not so complex. Whilst this version is easy drinking and enjoyable in Summer, it isn’t simple and definitely is quite complex.
Made by Groppello, Marzemino, Sangiovese and Barbera; fermented and macerated in steel tanks with a partial Malolactic fermentation. It stays on lees for 6 months with a further two months in bottle before being released. With this process, the wine shows a bright colour, extremely fruity, with spice and flowers on the nose. The lovely textural palate delivers bright red fruits with a balanced acidity which cleanses the tongue. Following this are spices, flowers and a finish of strawberry.
Enjoy Me With
I really love matching this wine with spicy Asian dishes. Thai Red Curry with Duck and Pineapple, Tom Yum Kung Soup, a Green Papaya Salad with Lemongrass Chicken, or maybe because I love spicy noodle dishes, a Vietnamese Bun Cha. The acidity cuts through the spice and freshens the palate ready for another mouthful and sip.
It’s an absolute delight of a wine that deserves to be appreciated rather than seen as a simple quaffing wine - Jeremy.
