Alpha Box & Dice 2016 Tarot Grenache
Based in South Australia, Alpha Box & Dice is a winery that constantly pushes the boundaries by creating wines of sincere quality and interest. So what does the name mean? “Alpha” stands for alphabet, “box & dice” meaning a complete set in order to create an alphabet of wines. Alpha Box & Dice sources grapes from farmers across South Australia, sourcing only the best fruit possible, experimenting with varieties known worldwide and that are often relatively undiscovered in Australia. Look for Ripasso, Nero D’Avola and Dolcetto varieties.
This really is an interesting wine from the talent at A, B & D. Whole bunch fermentation, 80% carbonic maceration used to pronounce the fruit driven characters of this Grenache. A lighter fruit driven style of Grenache that has an interesting toffee apple and mocha nose that follows on to a bright raspberry, spice, earthiness and candied fruit palate. A lively wine with great fruit expression and is perfect as an easy drinking summer red.

Grenache and lighter styles of red fruit works well in combination with spice driven foods, especially those with a paprika. The Hungarian Goulash is a great example of this. Spicy and full of flavour pairs well with this wine. We’d also consider mild Indian curries, spicy Spanish and Portuguese food too.
